Basic Purpose:

The Senior Network Engineer will be responsible for all aspects of Eaton Vance’s network communications including network security, Windows server connectivity, LANs, WAN, MAN, problem solving, vendor relations, and technical training. The ideal candidate will not only possess the requirements listed below but will also be energetic, flexible, and committed to excellence.

Eaton Vance is seeking a skilled Senior Network Engineer with experience in designing, deploying and maintaining highly-available networks that enjoys working as part of a team. In addition to strong design skills, the individual must hands-on operational and troubleshooting skills. The ideal candidate will have experience with networks supporting VoIP and Video and as well as a number of remote locations. Financial services experience a plus.

Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Responsible for designing and managing a scalable enterprise network including wide area and local area networks.
  2. Install and maintain all routers and switches in various network configurations supporting VLANs, QOS, VoIP, and advanced access-lists.
  3. Plan, monitor, evaluate, and manage performance of network systems and makes recommendations for improvement/upgrades.
  4. Address and report on day-to-day operational issues
  5. Provides hands on technical assistance and resolution for network problems.
  6. Provide support for technical needs for various business groups, individuals, and related systems.
  7. Knowledge of WAN protocols
  8. Performs equipment installations and relocation as required to support the business needs of the enterprise.
  9. Acts as the primary interface with telco and equipment vendors for resolving problems.
  10. Establishes a growth plan for the network to ensure the quality service
  11. Recognize and identify areas of network improvement including policy changes and enforcement.
  12. Documentation and network monitoring
  13. Mentor network engineer

Job Requirements:

  1. CCIE networking certification
  2. 5 -10 years experience with switching and routing in wide and local area networks
  3. Experience in Configuration & Change Management processes
  4. Excellence in testing and documentation of procedures
  5. Strong grasp of networking concepts and design
  6. Knowledge of trusted credentials (e.g., tokens, 802.1x)
  7. Experience in implementing and monitoring audit and event logging and analysis
  8. Knowledge at the expert level of TCP/IP networks, connections, wiring and cabling, and network management
  9. Solid knowledge of Spanning Tree Protocol
  10. Solid knowledge of BGP/ OSPF
  11. Exposure to VOIP, primarily SIP, softswitches, session boarder controllers, and inter-provider relationships.
  12. Experience with OSPF, STP/MSTP, VLAN tagging/trunking, VRRP/HSRP, ACL and policy enforcement, SNMP and monitoring platforms, packet capture and interpretation.
  13. Experience with: BGP, QOS implementations, multicast protocols, VoIP, BMC/Remedy ARS, netflow/sflow, SONET/WAN transport, WAN switching and routing, Solarwinds Orion, NI Observer, SSL VPN, SAN storage
  14. Cisco 6500’s, 4500’s, 3750’s, 7200’s, 7600’s and ASA’s.
  15. Load Balancers (F5/CSS),
  16. Network Monitoring tool such as Orion and Network Instruments.
