CCIE #20655
I suppose the post title is a dead give away, but I’ll go ahead and give you the news: Ethan passed the lab exam is now CCIE #20655. By now, you’ve also realized that this isn’t Ethan posting, either. Why? Simple: he doesn’t have the strange habit of talking about himself in the third person. This is Ethan’s wife, posting for him. He called me this evening to help him access the test results as he took his crackberry with him, but not his laptop. He will be back tomorrow and will post all the about the experience for himself.

Mrs. Banks:
Give Ethan my sincerest congratulations! I’ve been watching this blog all day for an update, and I’m glad that the update came in the form of a number.

[...] another candidate gets his number I just want to put this out there to congratulate Ethan Banks on getting his number.? He passed his lab today.? He only has his Blackberry with him, so he had his wife get onto his Cisco account to check his results, and he is now CCIE #20655. [...]

Ethan,
Congratulations again and I can’t wait to hear how it went for you. Back to Narbik’s in June for me I think.
Great Job! I think the only doubts about today’s outcome were your own

Awesome, I wanted to post earlier but was at a public “all your passwords are belong to us” terminal. After seeing your dedicated preparation it’s good to see you passed (would have scared me otherwise). Now you just have to figure out what to do on the weekends.
To quote my wife when I told her you passed, “You need to pass soon too; I want my husband back.” Enjoy, bask, rub co-workers faces in it.

That is awesome news! A Big congratulations! You have earned it. Gives me hope for mine next week!

Great news! I dont think anyone doubted that you would do it first time around, the amount of dedication that you have shown has been awesome, right the way through from the written to the lab!
Now, can you bottle some of that up an send it over here for me!!
Congratulations Ethan.

A BIG congratulation Ethan !!!
You deserve this having prepared soo well. And as someone already said, it would have been scary to others if you had failed first attempt.
Your ccie journey has been an inspiration to me as I have been following it right from “ccie written days”.
Now, it’s time to relax and spend some more time with your family.

Falconup from ‘My CCIE Training Guide’ passed on 04/18 as #20572, and now Ethan on the 29th as #20655 for a difference of 83 with 6 exam days separating them. Roughly 14 new CCIE’s a day?
April 30th, 2008 at 7:46 am
On second thought, judging from Human Modem’s passing on 01/08/2008 and his #19747 number, relative to #20655 over the number of workdays between them, it works out to about 10.2 CCIE’s per lab day.

I forgot to mention two things in my previous comment.
1. I’d like to sincerely thanking you for *not* referring to yourself in the third person
2. It would be interesting to hear what you think you did wrong vs right in your preparation. I know what I think I’ve done right/wrong, and it might help to compare notes

Ethan,
Congratulation Ethan, believe it or not, I was not surprised, I knew that you would get it in your first attempt. You were determined, you had the right strategy, you had the right support at home, you worked very hard and most of all you were focused. That’s what it takes to accomplish any goal. Good job M8.
