Switching Day 2
I feel really good about the quality of the time spent studying so far today.
I spent most of my time on a couple of technologies that have failed to sufficiently sink in to this point. Having ready access to switches has made this learning process a great deal easier.
Dynamic ARP Inspection and IP Source Guard

Switching Day 1
I spent the morning going through Narbik’s Advanced workbook on 3550 / 3560 switching and the DocCD (I know it’s not the DocCD any more- should I call it DocSITE?) :)Â
Topics I covered today in depth were as follows:
Spanning Tree - Rapid Per-VLAN STP, Per-VLAN STP, and MSTPÂ (note - from DocCD “you must consistently configure [...]
Persistence Pays Off
I was going through the blogroll, checking candidate blog sites to see how they were doing. Some of the blogs are dusty. Some are gone. But some show success…the lab passed, the digits earned, a chapter completed, a new chapter to begin.
I think I speak for many CCIEs when I encourage you to stick with [...]

Time is closing in, lab date approaching, update on Cisco 360 Workbook
As my lab date is approaching I see myself increasing the time I spend studying and practicing.
I have done the first three labs of CIERSWB and I must say that these labs are really
excellent! It must take an enormous level of skills to build such labs. I really like the
spot the issue approach!. These labs [...]
Random OSPF Notes
The following things were a little fuzzy in my brain before doing Narbik’s Advanced Technology Workbooks and reading through the Cisco docs.
Authentication - Authentication is Enabled either on an area or interface basis and is Applied when a key is configured- Enabling does not necessarily mean that authentication is REQUIRED, but it in order to [...]
Still here…
I’m still here… Â I had a really nice vacation in Florida where I spent limited time studying and more time in the sunshine. Â It really makes me want to move somewhere warmer!!
I’ve spent the last couple weeks going over the study plan that Narbik laid out in his lab. Â (which ended up working out [...]
