Hello Ethan,

Your analysis looks logical. It takes a lot of time and effort to complete whatever track you get into, some tracks take less than others, but in the end it will be a long journey, and time is something you always don't have, specially if you have children. By the other hand, if your regular duties at work do not require a deep knowledge in other areas such as voice or security, it will become more of a personal goal to achieve, than a professional one.

I wish you a high passing score in your recert exam :)

That's a pretty big distinction. I mean, the written test is multiple choice. If you even have a clue, you can make pretty decent grades on "uh.. this one sounds right, I think".

What routing technology uses the acronyms PE and CE?

1. Bob
2. Sacramento
3. Green
4. MPLS

Okay.. maybe I'm exaggerating but you know what I mean. You'll rock it.

Hi Ethan,

In the OSPF problem (w/o forwarding address suppression), what is the reason R4 choose the type-5 LSA (E1) from R3 instead of the type-7 LSA (N1) from CAT1? It seems that the N1 route is better than the E1 route in terms of distance.
Also according to RFC 3101 (sec 2.5, step 6e), a type-7 LSA with P=1 is prefered over a type-5 LSA when they have the same distance.

It seems Cisco did not implement this according to RFC 3101. Or am I missing something here?

Revisiting the subjet:

Let's see - since I published my view here I've since helped to make Sadikhov.com 100% dump free and as such I traded a good deal of my own online popularity in the process.

Also, since this event, I took notice of the extreme rate at which people actually take the dump for the CCIE Lab versus actually working hard and harder to pass the damned thing. Since a lot of my online popularity comes from the CCIE and old and new - I took a bit of a hit here too.

Finally - the legal thing with Dynamips which Cisco does not seem to be worried about (SAS fixes this soon enough anyway)... I took a hit in that department.

So... being online can be a two-edged sword, I went from like 99% totally beloved to about 50-60% over a few issues that seem to be very close and dear to a lot of people really fast.

There is also Cram for flashcards, it works on the Mac, the iPhone, and iPod Touch. Cram has a library of built in Cisco tests that can be shared with associates and allows you to study with photos and sound.

Having just received Narbik's new Advanced Workbook I can only say that if his troubleshooting book is half as good as this it will still be amazing. Well worth every penny and probably a beer or two on top of that.

I highly recommend the 360 program. The VoDs are filled with all kinds of wonderful information. I also enjoy the 4 hour labs, as they cover quite a bit in each one.
